LED profiles for shelves, headboards and cabinetry

LED strip on its own looks cheap because the diodes are visible and the light is uneven. An aluminium profile with a diffused cover is what turns a strip into a built-in light fitting.

Why the profile matters

The aluminium channel acts as a heat sink, extending LED life, and the diffuser spreads the light so individual diodes disappear. The result is a continuous glow rather than a dotted line.

Common placements

Under the lip of a floating shelf, behind the top rail of a headboard, along the toe-kick of a cabinet, or recessed into the underside of a wardrobe cornice. Each position gives a different effect and needs a different profile depth.

Colour temperature

For residential rooms we specify 2700K–3000K. Anything cooler starts to feel clinical once the sun goes down. In a study or kitchen 3000K–3500K can work, but we rarely go above that in a home.

Power and control

Profiles are wired to a remote driver, usually hidden in a cabinet or ceiling void. Dimmable drivers paired with a wall dimmer or smart switch let the same strip shift from task to ambient light.

Installation

We route the channels during joinery manufacture and install the strips and diffusers on site. The wiring plan is agreed before any timber is cut so drivers are located where they can be reached for maintenance.
