A seasonal care guide for solid wood furniture

Simple weekly and seasonal routines that protect solid wood from moisture, heat, sunlight and everyday wear.

Solid wood responds to its surroundings. A simple routine matters more than frequent polishing, and most care needs only a soft cloth and attention to the room.

Weekly cleaning

Remove dust with a dry or barely damp cloth, working with the grain. Avoid silicone sprays and strong cleaners. Dry the surface immediately after damp cleaning.

Winter, summer and sunlight

Heating can make air very dry, while humid summers encourage expansion. Keep furniture away from direct heat and strong air flow. Move decorative objects occasionally so sunlight changes the surface evenly.

When to refresh

An oiled surface may look dry before it needs full refinishing. Clean it, then apply the recommended maintenance product sparingly. Deep scratches, loose joints or lifting veneer should be assessed by a furniture professional.
